Kéolis, Arriva and Mota Engil as partners - Barraqueiro Group presents consortium to Metro do Porto.
The Barraqueiro Group has today publicly the establishment of the consortium, formed mostly by Portuguese companies, to tender for the operation of Metro do Porto.
The Barraqueiro Group assumes the leadership of this consortium, reaffirming his interest in this project, which considers the one of the most relevant to developing this year by the Group. To meet the specifications by the Metro do Porto, Barraqueiro Group established a partnership with leading companies in the sector, including Mota-Engil, Kéolis and Arriva.
The experience and know-how of the companies of the consortium are the main requirements taken into account by the Barraqueiro at the definition of partnership.
The Kéolis (www.keolis.com), French company specialized in passenger transport services, operates in seven European countries and Canada and is the market leader in providing systems for automatic tramway in which industry has more than 25 years of experience, having recently won two competitions for light rail in France and Norway.
The British operator Arriva (www.arriva.co.uk), shareholder of the Barraqueiro Group is another company of the consortium and is present in Portugal in the area of road transport of passengers since 2000. The multinational employs over 43 thousand people spread over 12 European countries, which provides road and rail transport of passengers.
The Mota-Engil Group (www.mota-engil.pt), with more than six decades of existence, is the market leader in Portugal in the construction industry and public works. In his universe, focus on Ferrovias and Manvia, a reference to maintenance of rail infrastructure projects with important clients such as REFER, Auto Estradas do Atlântico, Fertagus and AENOR.
For the development of this project is already running the new office of the consortium presented today at Rua do Campo Alegre, in Oporto.
